First Time Broker Renewal:

You must complete 90 clock hours of certified continuing education within two years (for your first renewal).

Advanced Real Estate Practices
This will most likely be taken online.
30 clock hours
Real Estate Law
This will most likely be taken online.
30 clock hours
Code of Ethics
Available through the SAR
3.5 clock hours
Purchase and Sale Agreement
Available through the SAR
7.5 clock hours
Current Issues in Washington Residential Real Estate
Available through the SAR or online
3 clock hours

Plus 12 more Elective “certified” courses are used to complete the 90 total hours.

Subsequent Broker License Renewal:

Require 30 clock hours (which always includes the Current Issues in Washington Residential Real Estate class – 3 clock hours)

New DOL Mandatory Education – Fair Housing Requirements Effective: June 1, 2022

Effective June 1, 2022, the WA Department of Licensing (DOL) has implemented SB 5378.

This bill requires ALL Brokers and Managing Brokers to take a Fair Housing class.

Brokers and Managing Brokers licensed BEFORE June 1, 2022, will be REQUIRED to take the Washington Real Estate Fair Housing (6-hr)” before June 1, 2023.

New agents licensed AFTER June 1, 2022 will be REQUIRED to take the “Washington Real Estate Fair Housing (3-hr)”.

Each subsequent renewal will REQUIRE a 3-hour Fair Housing Class. Just like Current Issues in Washington Residential Real Estate, this 3-hours will be INCLUSIVE of your regular 30-hours required for each renewal.
